it's 12:45 am. time for some rantage!

hmm. strange thing is a few of my posts have been this late lately. don't exactly know why. maybe it's because i've got nothing better to do at this hour than to talk about random things. after all, this lj also serves as a therapist of sorts. this is free. sure beats going to them professional shrinks and having to pay money.so yeah. report card came in couple days ago. decent decent. nothing bad to comment on. very happy to have been on honor roll for all four years of high school (for whatever that is worth). what a way to nerd it up all 4 years of high school. among other goodies in the mail is a bunch of lettermail from st. mike's college and u of t. joyous. i hath been invitedeth to frosh week at yonder st. george campus downtown. i wishest to attend this celebration of fun to kick off university in the right way. and best of all, it costs less than 100 gold pieces. and it's fully refundable if i am unable to attend the bash! shweet. and some other mail about scholarships and timetable changes. speaking of timetables, i'm lost as to what to apply to. reading all of it is very confusing. too many letters/numbers to deal with. why can't it be like high school, where the course code has some form of resemblance to the course itself?all in all, i hope my health co-operates with me this summer. it sucks that my summer has been marred by chemotherapy, but heck, there isn't much i can do about that. at least i go bald when the weather outside is nice. should my health co-operate i can attend the annual anime/sci-fi/comic book convention (recently expanded to include video games & gaming in general[CCGs, tabletop gaming, etc.]) and indulge the otaku in me; frosh week and have marginally more fun; most of all, i'd like to start university in a good state of mind too.in other news, my lj looks different. the frames are transparent. ooh. that resulted from a whole hour of html manipulation. however, still no new wallpaper. chii is doing a good job at holding the fort however, so i'll let her hang around for a bit longer.Word of the day: effleurage from the french "effleurer", meaning "to graze, to skim the surface of, or to touch lightly", coined by Dr. Johann Mezger to refer to a long, gliding massage stroke.

me vs. boredom

yesterday i rented timesplitters 3: future perfect for the ps2 to play for a couple of days. i was kinda bummed out that the local blockbuster had a lackluster selection, but what can you do really? so out of "just grab one to play for the next little while" mentality, my hand picked up this game. i was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this game. the graphics are nice and it sticks to the fps genre quite nicely. pick up gun, frag enemies. repeat ad nauseam. it has the same arcade feel as unreal tournament. recently i just spent 3 hours plopped in front of the ps2 playing this game. at least it succeeded in killing off boredom for 3 hours. yes indeeedy. might actually go out and buy this game one day.ever have one of those freaky lucid dreams where it actually felt real? too bad those dreams only come once in a while for some of us. i'd like to have this dream again sometime soon. those guys in "waking life" were damned right...stupid freaky dream signs. the details of my dream are a little hit and miss, but from what i could remember, the lights were on, but there was no light switch to be found in the room; no clocks anywhere. weird...in other news, i looked at our photo of the grads on the field one too many times today. stupid nostalgia. can't believe we're really moving on.

so yeah. let's get some rambling done

even though i started this journal out of sheer boredom, this does give me something to do in my free time. today, my inner monologue has been fairly quiet. that's quite odd, but considering that there weren't very many events happening today, i guess it couldn't be helped. did the whole wake up late, eat breakfast/lunch combo at around 1pm, read the free newspapers and do their crosswords, and ps2.while i failed to complete the crosswords like always, i somehow always manage to make a decent dent in them. the papers contained news of stuff like karla homolka, the 2012 olympics in london, live 8, g8 summit, blah blah blah. so yeah. instead of ranting on about each of these topics, i feel that i should reserve my comments to myself lest i wish to evoke the flames of people out there. right now, i feel uncultured. i don't read many (if any) of the latest pop culture books out there ie/ harry potter, LOTR, the da vinci code. i don't show much interest in them. i will basically just read whatever i can get my hands on. saw an ad for the latest harry potter book. am i excited? heck no. should i be? i dunno. same goes for movies. i'm not much of a movies person either. in both cases, people always describe books and movies as "good". what is this "good"? sure it can be a "good" book/movie but what makes it "good"? is there some sort of universal criteria for "good"? wow. wtf. philosophy mode off. why did i ever choose to take that course? hmm... i think i should stop there for now. that should do it for this spatter of randomness.

mleah. not much of an update. just managed to find one of the older walls i created for my desktop. yeah yeah i know, bad photoshop job, but this was the very first one i made. it features Chii from CLAMP's Chobits anime series. joyous.currently formulating a new background image right now. attacking google's image search for inspiration.

just a little something i should type in to pass some time while i figure out the workings of this html override business. i'm also looking for a decent picture to put up as the background. as of right now, it's just the cover of our chemistry magazine that i worked on this year.
